Why businesses are adopting “online backup”

We all know machines and hardware can fail on occasion even though big strides in the reliance on technology have been made. Nature also is unpredictable, from hurricanes (three so far in as many weeks) to earthquakes to wild fires, you never know what is coming to your geographic area. Data breaches are rampant, from the massive Equifax breach to the US Securities and Exchange Commission hack. And, even the most reliable and skilled humans can make a mistake. But if your business was to adopt online backup, you could shorten your list of things to worry about in this tumultuous world.

Did you know you have a one in four chance of having a data breach? If this should occur in your organization ask yourself “what safeguards do I have in place to ensure all data will be restored and the organization can be operating at full capacity in the shortest amount of time possible”?

One of the simplest things you can do to protect your data is online backup. Online backup is convenient, data can be backed up from anywhere as long as there is internet connectivity. Online backup is safe and data that is stored on the cloud is generally stored on secure, encrypted servers. Online backup also has ease of fast recovery and anytime access with quality vendors. And, online backup tends to be more affordable than hiring an in-house technical team and building infrastructure. Lastly, if you are backing up online you have a much better chance at business as usual should you encounter a data breach. Not only will you save time and money with an online backup, but also keep client confidence high.

Remember the 3-2-1 Backup Strategy is industry best practices.

  • 3 copies of your data
  • 2 copies local but on different mediums
  • 1 copy offsite

Finally, it is more important now than ever that your business’ data is securely backed up. Whether you are a small or large entity, it is not if but when you will have data issues.
